Towns

MORAIRA: 10 minutes drive. Formerly a small fishing village (some of the old parts still remain) which has developed into a charming little town retaining a village atmosphere. Small colourful streets, pavement cafes, a pretty marina, wide sandy beach, lively shopping area/market, and restaurants and bars too numerous to mention (traditional Spanish & seafood through to pastas & pizzas). From El Portet you can watch the sun set behind the Penon de Ifach - a large column of rock rising from the sea.

JAVEA: 15 minutes drive. Our nearest large town has preserved all its charm, and is a fascinating mix of old and new. Large, sandy beaches, an unspoilt old town, and a huge choice of restaurants.

Javea

CALPE: Calpe, a city of a near perfect combination of romantic village together with sun and beach. In between Altea to the south and Javea to the north, Calpe with its about 13,000 habitants is known for its rock called the Penon de lfach. This massive rock has been inspiring people from everywhere to come and enjoy the nearly perfect view around the bays and the Costa Blanca. Calpe can be reached either by the A-7 highway or the N-332 national road, which I would recommend using. The national road really gives you the kind of holiday feeling as it leads you to Calpe along the coastline up from Alicante.

Days Out

TERRA MITICA:  From rides, shows, restaurants and shops, there is fun guaranteed for everyone.

AQUALANDIA: If you love swimming, waterslides, and wave machines this is just over the top FUN.

MUNDOMAR: This Marine and Exotic animal park has every thing to entertain and educate.  A great day out.

GUADALEST: Guadalest is an old fortress that was build as a lookout point by the “Moros” who occupied Spain around the 12th century.

CAVES OF CANALOBRE: Cuevas del Canalobre is a single huge chamber 150 metres long, containing many stalactites, some of them looking like a candelabra, giving the cave its name.  The cave is beautifully lit with coloured lighting to bring out the natural colours and highlight the fantastic shapes.  The chamber has excellent acoustics, so it is often used for concerts and folk festivals and a large stage has been built for such events.
